MODERN & CONTEMPORARY ART RESTORATION
EXPERTISE · KNOWLEDGE TRANSFER · HIGH STANDARDS
Magalie Troy, heritage conservator specialising in modern and contemporary art, graduate of the Institut National du Patrimoine (INP) and Master Craftsperson in Art.
Expertise since 2001
I am a heritage conservator specializing in modern and contemporary art, trained at the Institut National du Patrimoine (INP) and recognized as a Master Artisan of Art.
Since 2007, I have directed ARCOART, a studio and laboratory based in Brittany, renowned for its expertise in complex, monumental, and highly sensitive works.
I regularly collaborate with prestigious international institutions such as UNESCO and the Vasarely Foundation, as well as museums, private foundations, and major art collections. I also take great pleasure in working on family and religious collections.
My approach combines scientific rigor, artistic sensitivity, and technical innovation, particularly in the field of aqueous cleaning methods adapted to modern materials. Committed to transmission, I teach at the Sorbonne University – Paris 1 and volunteer in numerous heritage organizations.
In 2023, I co-founded the PEPAC Grand Ouest, a hub dedicated to excellence in conservation-restoration and heritage crafts. Entrepreneurial and forward-thinking, I advocate for a conservation practice that is responsible, sustainable, and of the highest standard, combining technical precision with strategic vision.
My credo:
“Restore without harming, safeguard without distorting, transmit without erasing the history of our precious heritage.”

Condition Report – First Step in Art Conservation
The diagnostic is the essential first stage of any intervention in contemporary art conservation and restoration. It allows a precise evaluation of the condition of a painting, a modern work, or a monumental piece.
ARCOART delivers a professional condition report with a concise summary (1–2 pages), including photographs, description of the main alterations, and tailored recommendations.
A paid service, ensuring rigor and reliability, and guiding your decisions in art restoration projects.
Preliminary Study
Comprehensive analysis prior to restoration — a scientific and documentary foundation indispensable before any intervention.
Includes: detailed condition report, historical and technical research, preliminary testing on sensitive materials, and a complete report (available in French/English).
The document provides treatment recommendations and a precise budget estimate.
Independent and billable service. When ARCOART is subsequently entrusted with the restoration, the preliminary study fees are incorporated into the overall project.
An essential service for museums, foundations, and private collections seeking recognized expertise in art conservation and restoration.
Essential
Essential Restoration – Stabilizing and safeguarding your artworks. Tailored for private collections, parishes, and cultural associations.
Following a thorough condition report and diagnosis, ARCOART ensures both the structural stability and the aesthetic clarity of the piece.
Each intervention is documented with a concise report (2–3 pages), including before/after photographs and a dedicated preventive conservation guide.
A professional, trustworthy solution to preserve and showcase your artworks with confidence.

EXCELLENCE • SAFETY •
ENVIRONMENT • INTEGRITY
At ARCOART, every artwork is an irreplaceable witness to human history. Our mission is not only to restore, but to safeguard memory, integrity, and the transmission of cultural heritage — combining scientific expertise, ethical responsibility, and a long-term vision.
Excellence and Scientific Rigor
Our interventions adhere to international ethical standards (ICOM, ECCO) and rely on proven, documented, and traceable protocols.
Every step — from the condition report to the final documentation — reflects a commitment to precision and reliability,
ensuring the artwork’s material and aesthetic integrity over time.
Safety and Technical Mastery
Artworks are entrusted to a highly controlled environment: stable storage conditions 24/7, strict compliance with climate and health standards,
and advanced security systems (alarms, remote monitoring, continuous surveillance). During interventions, certified equipment and respectful techniques
protect the artwork, the conservator, and the environment alike.
Environmental Responsibility
Heritage conservation cannot be conceived without ecological awareness. We prioritize low-impact materials, implement responsible solvent management,
practice selective sorting and waste reduction, while optimizing energy consumption. To restore is also to act for a sustainable future.
Specialized Insurance and Guarantees
Each project is backed by comprehensive coverage: professional liability, permanent artwork fund insurance, legal protection,
and dedicated guarantees through AXA ART. This specialized framework provides museums, institutions, and private collectors with complete peace of mind —
from intake to final return.
Confidentiality and Absolute Discretion
Whether working with museum, institutional, family, or private collections, confidentiality lies at the heart of our practice.
Discretion complements material security, offering our partners a framework of total trust.
Integrity and Independence
Our ethical commitment is uncompromising:
RESTORATION, STABILIZATION OF THE WORK & PREVENTIVE CONSERVATION
